The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation announced a second round of public participation in the process for developing the 2015-2025 Statewide Integrated Solid Waste and Materials Management Plan. When completed, this plan will outline how Tennessee will reduce, manage and dispose of its solid waste in the future.
In March TDEC held a series of four special focus meetings in which stakeholders were invited to share their ideas and priorities for the plan. The next round of meeting will take place between May 5th and 8th in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville and Jackson. In addition, one interactive Web-based meeting will be held at 11 am Central/Noon Eastern on Wednesday, May 7, to encourage participation by stakeholders unable to attend the other meetings.
The May meetings will include a presentation regarding priorities and various options for addressing them. Participants will be given the opportunity to ask questions and to give feedback regarding acceptable and preferred methods to move toward achieving goals to improve solid waste and materials management in Tennessee.
Participants may also bring written comments and questions, which will be collected during the meetings and considered in the creation of the plan. Comments and questions may also be submitted to TDEC’s Division of Solid Waste Management at any time at email@example.com.
