As a senior, Abby was introduced to SOCM when she was nominated by her teachers for the Maury County Chapter’s Annual Achievement Awards. She is now about to graduate from Tennessee College of Applied Technology, specializing in Graphic Design. For the last several months, Abby has worked with members and organizers to develop social media graphics, flyers, and other materials.
Maggie is a junior at the University of Tennessee where they study Sociology. Over the last year, they have worked on the various issues surrounding the Bull Run Fossil Plant and helped organize members of the community. Recently, Maggie won UTK Sociology Department’s ‘Student Engagement and Leadership’ award for her work with SOCM.
Kass began her internship with SOCM in Fall 2019 and has since focused on SOCM’s housing justice work. In the Knoxville-area, she worked on our campaign with the National Resource Defense Coalition (NCRC) to obtain a Community Benefits Agreement(CBA) with banks. Since then, she has assisted with organizing efforts in the area, increasing community awareness and support of lending equity.
Kass is currently studying at the University of Tennessee.
