If you live in Knox County and want to make a difference in the lives of your friends, family, and neighbors, then the Knoxville Chapter of SOCM is the right group for you.
Our chapter was founded in 2012 as the first urban chapter of SOCM. We are continuing to grow, taking advantage of several community events and conferences to outreach to potential new members.
Our members are dedicated to a cleaner, brighter, and better Knoxville, and that vision has led us to work on a number of issues within the community. Some of the issues we have confronted include food and sustainability, as well as efforts to promote sustainable energy in the city.
Some of our ongoing projects include:
- Improving energy efficiency in citizen’s homes and promoting green energy policies for the city
- Asking for increased standards of transparency and accountability for charter schools in Knoxville
- Cultivating the availability of healthy food for citizens living in food deserts
- Building a coalition of renters to advocate green energy practices to landlords
We hope you will join us for our monthly chapter meetings, every forth Monday of the month at the SOCM office, 2507 Mineral Springs Ave., Suite D, Knoxville, between 6:30 and 8:00 PM ET.
