Intern With SOCM

If you’re looking for an in-depth experience with SOCM, then interning is a great way to gain valuable skills while working to improve your community. Interns are an essential part of SOCM’s work for social, economic, and environmental justice in Tennessee.

SOCM interns work closely with the SOCM staff [link to staff page], completing assigned projects and assisting in the day-to-day management of SOCM campaigns within their chosen track.

Interns can choose between five tracks in the application process: Community Organizing, Communications, Development, IT/Technology, and Administrative.

Students can often earn academic credit while completing their internship with us, and letters of recommendation are available on request to students who complete the program.

There are typically no stipends provided for internships, but SOCM will reimburse pre-approved expenses connected to organizational work or travel. Most internships are located through our Knoxville, TN office, but may also be available in Middle and West Tennessee, depending on the position.

Applications are accepted on a rolling admission basis, but can be completed during a fall, spring, or summer term.
