Terms are limited to two consecutive two-year terms for any one position. NOTE: Chapter members, and not the full SOCM membership, elect Chapter representatives. They are, however, limited to the same terms as other positions.

Julie Burns, President
First Elected: October 2017 (First Term)

Formerly the Chair of the Rutherford County Chapter, Julie lives with her husband Calief on land that was formerly an intentional community, on the outskirts of Murfreesboro. Their property borders the 800+ acre Flat Rock Cedar Glades and Barrens State Natural Area on one side, and a poorly-run junkyard on the other.

Casey Self, Treasurer
First Elected: October 2015 (Second Term)

Casey is a former staff of SOCM serving as the Communications Director. She is currently working as a Public Relations and Media Manager in Knoxville. She is active in several civic and non-profit organizations especially with the League of Women Voters.

Gail Ford, Cumberland County Chapter Representative
First Elected: October 2015 (Second Term)

Gail is the Cumberland County Chapter Board Representative. She is a long-time SOCM member that has been active in Lands Unsuitable for Mining Petitions, stopping coal ash landfills from locating in areas that would adversely affect sources of drinking water for local residents.

Joycelene Johns, Maury County Chapter Representative

Joycelene, a resident of Mt. Pleasant in Maury County, has been active in the fight for clean and affordable water in her community. She became a SOCM member in 2012 and was elected by the chapter to serve as the Board Rep in October 2013.

D.J. Coker, At-Large Delegate
First Elected: October 2018 (First Term)

D.J.is an active member and leads the citizen water testing for SOCM.

April Potter, At-Large Delegate
First Elected: October 2018 (First Term)

April is a leader in economic transition work in coalfield communities.

Leith Patton At-Large Delegate
First Elected: October 2015 (Second Term)

Leith is a member of the Roaring River Chapter. She is active in several civic and non-profit organizations. She is employed with a company that makes materials used in Montessori Schools.
