Maury County Chapter
A SOCM Maury county chapter was formed in 1999. Over the next years key issues identified include sponsoring activities and workshops promoting unity and racial tolerance, encouraging participation in dismantling racism workshops, and addressing issues of discrimination in funding public facilities like parks in African-American communities.
In 2007 the Maury chapter went inactive, but a new surge of energy and emerging of new leaders has sparked an effort to re-activate the chapter.
Those involved in reactivating the chapter met in December 2008 to discuss issues they could organize around and listed such areas as crime, drugs, youth, and education.

Concert benefits flood victims of Tenn.
In response to the devastating flood that affected middle Tennessee, the SOCM Maury County Chapter hosted a free Benefit Concert in conjunction with the American Red Cross, Mount Williamson Primitive
Baptist Church, and the Maury County Harvest Share food pantry to benefit the Tennessee flood victims.
